Terms of service

Last updated 9 August 2026. These beta terms govern use of the WePayGuard app and wepayguard.com.

Beta terms. WePayGuard is in private beta and is not enabled for real-money transactions. Final terms will be issued before the production launch.

1. What WePayGuard is

WePayGuard is a tool for two people to record a transaction, optionally hold the buyer's payment until delivery is confirmed, and keep a receipt and audit record. WePayGuard is not a party to your sale, is not a bank, and provides no banking, lending, escrow-agency or insurance services beyond what is described here.

2. Eligibility

You must be 18 or older, provide accurate account information, and keep your credentials secure. One person, one account.

3. Protected Payment

When both parties choose Protected Payment and accept its terms, WePayGuard holds the buyer's funds until the buyer accepts delivery, the inspection window expires, the seller misses the fulfillment deadline under the published rules, or a supported dispute is resolved. Protection in this version covers non-delivery only. It does not cover items that are wrong, damaged, incomplete or not as described.

4. Direct Payment + Receipt

Direct Payment credits funds to the seller's payment balance without escrow. Transfer from that balance to a bank account is handled by our payment provider on its own schedule; WePayGuard does not guarantee a payout time. There is no escrow, no dispute path and no refund mechanism through WePayGuard.

5. Fees

Buyer fees are shown before funding: 2.5% + $0.49 with a $2.49 minimum for Protected Payment, and 1.5% + $0.49 with no minimum for Direct Payment + Receipt. Sellers bear actual payment-processing costs. Service fees are generally non-refundable when an item refund is issued, and are refunded for confirmed technical errors or other approved platform-fault situations.

6. Disputes

Non-delivery disputes follow the published rules, deadlines and automatic outcomes. Where both parties respond, negotiation opens and either may propose a settlement split. Routine human review, appeals, returns and legal-review workflows are not offered in this version. An audited emergency decision may be applied in exceptional circumstances.

7. Prohibited use

No illegal, stolen, counterfeit, regulated or prohibited goods; no money laundering, fraud, or use of the service purely to move funds; no attempt to manipulate deadlines, evidence or dispute outcomes. We may restrict accounts, place money-movement holds or cancel transactions where these terms are breached.

8. Beta service

During the beta the service is provided as-is, may change or be interrupted, and must not be relied on for real-money transactions until we announce that production payments are enabled.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, WePayGuard's liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the service fees you paid on the transaction concerned. We are not liable for the condition, authenticity, legality or value of anything bought or sold.

10. Changes and contact

Material changes will be announced in the app and dated here. Questions: support@wepayguard.com.
